How to Remote Windows 11 using Cloudflare Zero Trust

Requirements#

• Any domain
• Cloudflare account
• Windows Pro edition

Make sure Remote Desktop is enabled on your Windows machine.

Steps#

1. Prepare your Cloudflare account and ensure your domain is registered in Cloudflare.
2. Create a Cloudflare Tunnel from the computer you want to access remotely.

   

3. Once your tunnel is connected, open the tunnel dashboard and set up the domain to be used for remote access. Follow the example below:
   • Click “Add a public hostname”

     

   • Set Type: RDP and URL: localhost. Choose the domain as needed.

     

4. On the remote client, download Cloudflare’s client application: Download Link

   

   Save the file in your folder, then run this command in the terminal:

./cloudflared-windows-amd64.exe access rdp --hostname your.domain --url rdp://localhost:3390

After that, open Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) and enter the address: localhost:3390. Use the same username and password as on the computer you are accessing remotely.

After that, you should be able to start the remote session successfully.
